Picture the place you want to be
The Maasai Mara and Amboseli both feature in our Kenya itineraries, but they bring different landscapes to the journey. Rather than looking for one destination that does everything, start with the scenes and experiences that draw you in. That will help you decide where to spend your time.
Wide horizons in the Maasai Mara
The Maasai Mara is known for its open savannahs and wildlife. It is a place to make room for game drives, changing light, and time spent observing the landscape. If the idea of exploring those broad plains is what brought you to safari planning, it is a natural destination to discuss first.
Elephants and mountain views in Amboseli
Amboseli is known for elephant herds and views toward Mount Kilimanjaro. Those views depend on the weather, and wildlife sightings are always unpredictable. Go with curiosity rather than a checklist, and leave room to appreciate the smaller details as well as the scenes you have seen in photographs.
Make the route work for your time
You may be able to include both destinations, but travel time deserves as much attention as the number of stops. Tell us how many days you have and how you feel about road journeys or flights. A route with time to settle in can be more rewarding than one that tries to cover everything.
